 I was taught that once you learn stone
you can apply what you know
to carving wood and I have
found this to be true.
Wood has it’s own kind of surprises
especially in the knotty areas
– but the check marks and the knots
are part of the character…
I carve a lot of women in wood
because the round, organic,
often sinewy forms seem to fit.
